As a parent, you’ll surely go the extra mile just to keep your children healthy. As mentioned by Greenthevote, many parents are now starting to use CBD oil to treat the different illness their children experience. Such illnesses include anxiety, pain, seizure disorders, and even autism. However, is using CBD oil on your children a wise move?

What is CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a compound extracted from the cannabis plant. Though it originated from the same plant where recreational marijuana is obtained, CBD oil does not contain a notable amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical that produces the all-so-famous “high” effect.

Therefore, users won’t get “high” with CBD oil. The CBD oil itself is not addictive and does not impair the user’s mental state. CBD oil is usually taken in by the user as a liquid under the tongue, as a cream, or a gel capsule.

Can Children Take CBD Oil?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the medicinal use of CBD oil is satisfactory, and they acknowledge it. To them, CBD oil is generally acceptable to use with a satisfactory safety profile. To date, no evidence of CBD oil has been reported that poses any health-related problems linked to its usage.

So, the answer is yes. In fact, there is enough evidence that confirms CBD oil to be a useful medicinal treatment for several medical disorders. This has been widely used among children with different health issues such as the following:

Anxiety

Researchers of New York City examined the potential of CBD oil in treating children’s anxiety. The research showed promising results and was attested by thousands of testimonies from parents. According to them, CBD oil demonstrates effectiveness in decreasing anxiety behaviors and other related multiple disorders like panic disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Autism

Researchers are also exploring the possibility of the use of CBD oil to reduce the behavioral problem of children with autism. The study found significant behavioral, anxiety, and communication improvements as reported by the parents. Such research was conducted to 150 participants within a span of three months.

Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

There were many researchers who speculated that CBD oil would cope with the hyperactivity-impulsivity and depressive symptoms among children. However, there isn’t enough evidence to support this speculation.

Pain

Research suggests that CBD oil can treat children who suffer from pain and migraines. Results show that CBD can fight inflammation, which in return, can relieve pain.

Summary

Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown prospective medicinal importance to children and even adults. CBD oil can be beneficial for children, mainly if it’s used appropriately. Up until now, researchers are conducting study after study to uncover other medical applications that CBD oil can contribute to the society.

However, if you’re considering to use CBD for your children, you should inform your pediatrician first for him to manage your child’s overall safety. This is also done to avoid any medical interactions from your child’s current medication.
